The county's 95-acre keeper at the top of Sand Key — a wide, sea-oat-backed Gulf beach where a $50 permit buys the ceremony of the year.
Sand Key Park is the barrier island's public masterpiece: 95 county-run acres at the top of Sand Key with a wide Gulf beach behind natural dunes, a salt marsh boardwalk, and — as of the county's April 2026 policy — designated status as one of the two parks Pinellas points beach weddings toward. Every ceremony needs a permit, and the fees are published like a bus schedule: $50 a day up to fifty guests, $100 past that, $150 with commercial vendors.
The rules arrive equally plainly. No alcohol anywhere in a county park, amplified music inaudible past fifty feet, vendors insured and the county indemnified, park gates closing at sunset with tow trucks meaning it. What that buys is the region's best-value ceremony on its least-crowded developed beach — couples pair the sand with a reception at the resorts a mile south or over the bridge on the strip.
